25th may (part 1)(proitys two)

   1) Memorise Act 1 (Scene 2)
I've not done much on this unfortunately since I concentrated on Act 2, since it seems to be the one we are doing the most of at the moment.
    2) Memorise Act 2
On Wednesday we went over this act, well not all of it about 50% of it, and I learned I did not know much of my lines. I thought I knew more than I did so I started learning lines and yesterday we did the scenes and I remembered them so I'm doing fine on these and should know them all by next Wednesday.
    3) Blocking and Spacial awareness in all scenes
Ok so we did the fight scene on Wednesday and I thought my spacing in that was very good since I did not bump or get to close to anyone. We also did a few of the other scenes before that and by the looks of it we need to sort some of it out which we did yesterday. We thought about the scenes with me and Aslan as we have not done these scenes very much and needed to block them better. For example when I asked Aslan "should we not camp on the far side, the witch might try a night attack" instead of Aslan standing next to me looking at the map, he paces and then I go over and tap him on the shoulder.
    4)Business and Character
I have though about how my character should act and tried to upgrade that, like for the fight I go to Edmund and then go after the witch angry. I also thought about how Peter would react when his family was in danger or scared for example when the White Witch comes on I go after her and after she flings my sword away, I pick it up and go back towards my family. The same thing goes when Aslan roars at Lucy, I stand in between the two of them.
    5)Emotional Memory
I started to think how people and most importantly how Peter would think of many of the emotional things that happens and he sees. For instance how he thinks the sea is beautiful and also when he's with Aslan talking about the hills and deep valley, he would see it and think of it. I also thought about how he would be when he sees Edmund injured and dying on the floor.
    6)Blocking for the other cast
Well we were supposed to do this on Wednesday but we did not get around to try and block stuff with the other cast since I'm not in the fight scene.
    7)Speech AKA speaking clearly
I have been trying to speak slowly and clearly so people can understand me when I say half my lines I also have a bad habit of looking at the person I'm talking to and facing sideways when I should be at least having my head towards the audince or looking at the audince half the time.
    8)Confidence
I'm trying to remember not to be to self conscious about what I'm doing and just going for it no matter what other people think of it.

24th May

Well there was not that many people in so we had to think about what scenes needed doing instead. I thought that since me and Aslan were both in, we could try and do half the scenes where it's just the two of us. The first scene we talk to each other about is easy but the others were a little tricky, as we had to miss half the stuff in between the two of them and I got a bit confused.
So we started off with the first time we talk and how it should be done. We started off with us both going behind the stone table and when Aslan says "what do you see?" he go's left and I go right and walk to the front of the stone table where I say my line. Then when he asks "what else?" I look and point towards something and then face him and say the last few lines. When he says his line after this Susan's horn goes off and we look stage left where she runs on and we had to skip this bit since we did not have a Susan.
The next bit is after the White Witch has gone, he tells me to come and look at a map so I go and meet him at the stone table. He gives me a map and when he says "lets look at the map" I open it up and put it on the stone table and we start discussing about what to do until I say "but Aslan you will be there yourself won't you?" He says his line and then starts to pace stage right while I go back to looking at the map.
Until Susan and Lucy have finshed their lines where I say mine about a possible night attack, I notice Aslan is not listoning and wondering what his he thinking about I go up and tap his shoulder.

18th may (part 1) (priotys one)

This morning while in the computer room we had been talking about what you need to concentrate on and what prioty we need to do them in so I thought about what I needed to do and what order I should do them in and why I should do them in this order.

    1) Memorise Act 1 (Scene 2)
I thought starting by memorising Act 1 would be best because I know the first half of it and if I were to memorise the rest then I could start concentrating on blocking and bits of business for it. I could also use all of my time memorising Act 2 instead of trying to do both toghter.
    2) Memorise Act 2
After number 1 I thought this was number 2 as I have explained in the last one after I learned Act 1 Scene 2 then I'll learn this act so I can start concentrating on the blocking and business within the act.
    3) Blocking and spacial awareness in all scenes
There are scenes where we have to be in front of scenery or have to be in a certain places so others can see you and other members of the cast. We sometimes also need to be behind something as well as in the fight and I need to know where others are so I don't bump into them or fall over other people.
    4)business and character
I need to think about my character and what type of business he would do and why he would moved to diffrent places and how he would move.
    5)Emotional Memory
I need to think about how myself as well as other people would react at emotional points in the play.
    6)blocking for the other cast
I need to move and be in the other cast for their show as well, so they can peform their play right. Such as moving platforms and perform a few extra roles and movement bits in the show.
    7)speech AKA speaking clearly
I need to be able to speak clearly so the audience and other members of the cast can hear me and know when to say their lines.
    8)Confidence
I need to get into full character and just act and get on with work and not lose the character if I forget blocking, lines or do something daft.

Research part 3

Something else you can find out about the Narnia books is that they are all based on Christianity and mythology aka mythical beasts and animals from our world. This is also explained in the Magicians nephew because it was humans that helped Aslan make the animals. The other thing that I find a bit funny is that a white witch is seen has a good witch but in this case she is evil the other thing why she might be is because of the theme that it has a witch and she casts magic to do with the cold like ice and snow as well as a few others like turning creatures into stone.

3rd May

We practised fight scenes, this time we switched partners and looked at a video from another performing group who also did a fight scene between two people to see if we could put anything like that into our fights. We also had to add into our fight scene two lifts has well has some hand to hand combat.

10th May

We did on 9th May was run all of act 1 and bits of act two. What we ran though in act 2 was the Peter’s witches and Edmunds fighting bits in the big fight and the basic of the scene before that where Aslan unfreezes the creatures in the witch’s castle since I will be playing a frozen creature in the other cast and also helping them out with moving scenery.

Research part 2

Ok so I did other research about the time the play was set in, which is not very hard since I have a lot of info about evacuations at home like we where the only place in Europe that was actually able to do it.
Most of the cities that where evacuated where the important cities and the surrounding areas and children were taken to the countryside to be safe. Many people would think that Lucy going with a stranger would not happen, but you have to think that
a) She is only like 8 and would be excited about meeting a faun and would like to know more since she would still be at a very curious age and ...
b) since everything apart from potatoes, tea and fish was rashioned getting cakes and other sweets would have been very hard to get hold of and very expensive. You could usually only make them and not buy them and even then the ingredients to make them would be very expensive to use in a month.

Research part 1

I have done some research on different subjects. I started off researching the actual play first looking at how it is based on the book, which is part of a seven book series and even though it was the first made it is actually the second book in the time line of the series. There have also been a few movies made from the book, the first one being a BBC, 6 episode movie and another being a Disney movie.
Even though you can read the book without reading any others and get most of it, if you read the Magicians nephew you can understand a lot more about half the stuff that goes on in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, like how the witch says that she will make Edmund a prince and when she dies he will become king. The funny thing about this is that the white Witch knows she can't die of old age and only by someone killing her because of the apple she ate in the garden of Eden in Magicians nephew. You also find out that she also comes from another world and is not a resident of Narnia. and just like the lamp post grew from the ground.

9th May

We could not do much at the start of the lesson as we where in a small room but we where discussing about what we could do in the fight scene. When we got into the dance studio we talked about what fight scenes needed doing I forgot what the fight was when attacking the witch and the wolf Maugrim so we had to rehearse and remember what we did. After this we tried to work out when Edmund and Maugrim can come on then worked out how to switch the partners, we thought that when the witch has me on the ground Edmund jumps down off the bridge and grabs the witch's staff from behind and then they start. As this happens Maugrim comes running down the stage left stairs off the bridge to help where I stop her and then fight and kill her. When the witch is done fighting Edmund and I'm still fighting she goes up on the bridge thinking she has won until she sees Aslan and then tries to run off, I stop her and she pushes me down and goes to kill me when Aslan comes and they start their fight.
The other thing we had to think about was that there is supposed to be other fights going on at the same time not just 4 people fighting a 2 vs 2 battle so we had to think when to get the other people on and where from.  We decided that the good people should come on stage right and the bad stage left. The other thing is Edmund before coming on is supposed to come on from the back, but can't do this because of the bridge, so instead of doing it he comes on stage right and then I give him a signal to go right onto the bridge where he fights Maugrim.

12th april

We started on our first scene today with blocking and some other ideas such as scenery. We then started off the scene with me and the other children playing one potato, two potato, three potato, split and then running away from Edmund, who is the catcher. I go to run off stage where Miss Macready comes on and stops me. I back off and we line up ,when the Professor comes on behind Miss Macready we do introductions. After this the professor asks Miss Macready to go though a short list of house rules and while she is doing this we walk to the bedroom from where we are and while this goes on, the boards we have as the background move with us because of people behind them and then stop at the other end of the stage to make the bedroom.
